Arsen, severely injured in 2017 while serving in the Armenian army, is continuing his education in IT thanks to compensation from the 1000+ Foundation

Last year during and immediately after the Second Artsakh war, you mobilized to raise critical funds for humanitarian efforts on the ground in Armenia and Artsakh. In the end you raised $6,149,478 for several organizations working directly with displaced civilians and injured service members.

In the coming weeks we will be sharing the final results of their work, as we transition into a new chapter in the life of our organization. To start, below you’ll find three updates from our partners at the 1000+ Foundation, Sose’s Women NGO, and the Homeland Defender’s Rehab Center.

Whether you donated to our fundraisers or to support the work of others, we’re inspired by your continued readiness to stand by Armenia and Artsakh. Thank you for your support and for following along.

1000+ Foundation

1000+ provides financial support to soldiers injured in battle, and to the families of fallen or missing soldiers. Thanks to your donations, 47 families like that of Syuzanna Minasyan featured above, who lost her husband in the war, received upfront lump sums of $20,000. For injured service members like Arsen in the video above, financial support made possible by you means that he can continue his education in IT. For a complete list of all individuals and families receiving support from 1000+, and to continue supporting, visit their website.

Sose’s Women NGO

You raised $50,070 to support this women’s empowerment organization based in Goris, which has been supporting families displaced by the war. Using these funds, Sose set up a sewing workshop where 3 Artsakhtsi women are currently employed full-time making household linens under the Harmony Home brand, a social enterprise launched by Sose last year. The new workshop was set up in February, and since March women have been undergoing sewing training there to join their team in the future and make sustainable incomes. Last month they participated in the Yerevan Wedding Expo to increase their visibility in the local market, and they just signed a contract with Melante Sewing to expand their production and sales. Read our first blog update about this project.

Homeland Defender’s Rehab Center

In December we launched a fundraiser to support this Yerevan-based rehab center and equip a 4-floor wing of theirs that’s currently being remodeled to increase their capacity. With this equipment the center will be able to offer free rehab to an additional 300 soldiers like Henry above every month. To date, we’ve raised $191,182–96% of our total goal. In February we transferred $94,680 to the center. They’ve already spent $65,554 on new rehab equipment, including a physiotherapy staircase, treadmill, wall bars, multi functional hospital beds, and equipment for an express lab.

Stay tuned for more updates on what your donations mean for Armenia’s post-war reconstruction efforts. For questions, please reach us at contact@onearmenia.org.
