About you

ONEArmenia is seeking new Board Members to join our mission of disrupting Armenia’s tourism sector and advancing sustainable travel practices, to make the country the #1 destination in the South Caucasus. This is an unpaid, volunteer position to put Armenia on the map for the world’s culturally curious travelers while also building a robust economy driven by tourism that is sustainable and gives back.

Armenia ranks #1 in visitor satisfaction rate when compared to its neighbors Georgia and Azerbaijan — 96% of travelers who have been to Armenia would recommend the country to others, yet visitor numbers remain low. Our goal is to bring Armenia to the forefront of experiential tourism while staying true to our commitments of sustainability.

About us

ONEArmenia, or 1A for short, is a for-purpose organization based in Yerevan and Los Angeles that since 2012 has raised over $7 million to support socio-economic projects in rural Armenia. Our sustainable and transparent projects in agriculture, tech and tourism have all had one goal — accelerate job creation and give local people the opportunity to improve their standard of living.

Now, we’ve switched gears to introduce Armenia to the world as an alluring destination for experience travel while staying true to our values and goal of creating fair employment opportunities for local people. In 2021, we launched our for-profit arm 2492 Travel, the first and only sustainable travel brand in Armenia. 2492 BC is the year of Armenia’s founding according to legend. As a team of adventurers in Armenia who love stories, we named our experiential travel brand after the legend that started it all.

Our vision is an Armenia where local people are able to make liveable incomes and are not forced to emigrate to find employment. To achieve this long-term vision, our mission is to make Armenia the #1 destination in the South Caucasus by incubating and launching extraordinary travel experiences that support rural job creation. Board members will help us achieve our mission by providing their expertise and guidance to 1A and 2492 Travel, adhering to our sustainability standards, putting local people first, and keeping to the bold and fresh style 1A is known for .

Our Values

  1. Radical transparency. This has been our guiding principle since 2012. There has long been skepticism around donating money to projects in Armenia. Our commitment to radical transparency has helped break the skepticism, resulting in over $7 million raised. All our project goals, material and labor costs, and implementation details are always public on our website, and we always document and communicate our progress on projects through email and on social media.
  2. Collaboration. We’re not here to reinvent the wheel. We’re here to connect and work with other like-minded individuals and groups who share our goals and values, whether in Armenia or around the world.
  3. Efficiency. We are in a perpetual state of streamlining our process. We learn by doing, and from making mistakes. Failure is an option in our book. What matters is getting back up and trying again. No one has done what we have done before — we are blazing a trail.
  4. Bold style. Everything we do looks, sounds and feels fresh. People respond to high-quality presentation — especially when the content matches the packaging.
  5. Narration. All permutations of our messaging — online and in-person — reflect the narrative we are building in an effort to re-shape the narrative around Armenia. It is a place to stand by and invest in, not a place to be pitied.
  6. Inclusivity. All are welcome here, Armenian or not, and we will work with anyone as long as they share our values. We do not tolerate racism, sexism, discrimination, homophobia, transphobia, prejudice, violence or vulgarity in any scenario, and/or at the expense of anyone.
